4 Reasons Why Cinematic Videos are Better Than Photographs

In more ways than one, cinematic videos are better than photographs. There are multiple cases that prove that cinematic videos are better. Cinematic videos tell more of a story, are more visually pleasing to the eye, easier to edit and they engage audiences. All of these combine to make a cinematic video better.

Reason 1: Videos tell more of a story

Photographs are more than capable of telling a story, but a story in a cinematic video is easier to pick up and comprehend. You have to look at photographs for long periods of time and really have to dig deep to figure out the story behind the picture, but with a video, most of the time you are able to pick up the story behind it within the first or second viewing.

Reason 2: Are more visually pleasing to the eye

With a video, there is more content to it, making more of a chance for something to catch the eye. If a video is executed perfectly, it is a beautiful sight to see. If you get the right person behind the camera, it is incredibly wonderful see. With a photo, there is only one piece of content that the viewer is consuming, and with a video it is a series of content that the viewer is consuming. In most cases, you need a series of photographs to make them more visually pleasing than a cinematic video.

Reason 3: They are easier to edit

As a videographer myself, I find a video significantly easier to edit than a photograph. It takes more examining to point out the flaws in a photograph than it does in a video. Sometimes, you may have to zoom in to the max setting in order to point a flaw out of a picture, but with a video, it is usually a quick catch. I would also rather edit a sequence of videos for hours at a time than sit in front of a screen editing a singular picture for consecutive hours.

Reason 4: They engage audiences

As a teenager living in an age of media, I have more of a chance stopping to look at a video than I am with a picture. If I ever stop to look at a picture, it’s to read a caption. Videos that are executed correctly are bound to be successful in keeping the viewers’ attention throughout the entirety of the video. I came across a video that did a great job at engaging the audience. As stated above, a video has more content, so it has more of a chance at getting the audience in solved than a single photograph.

Cinematic videos tell more of a story, are more visually pleasing to the eye, easier to edit and they engage audiences. All of these combine to make a cinematic video better. Overall, cinematic videos are better than photographs in more ways than one.
